Dawid Misiorny zbudował ekspozycje która powraca do zagadnienia procesu interpretacji fotografii. BABEL jest w tym wypadku symbolem splotu języków, narracji i sposobów odbioru. Przygotowany przez fotografa wybór kilku zdjęć zestawiony zostanie w zmieniające się sekwencje ewoluujące przez czas trwania ekspozycji. W wypadku Misiornego, który w swojej twórczości poszukuje poetyckich 'decydujących momentów’, gest ten podważa wyjątkowość utrwalonych obrazów. Autor otwiera je na nieskończoną możliwość interpretacji, nieskończoną ilość języków i historii jakimi 'mówić’ będzie wystawa.

Zastanówmy się na tym czym w gruncie rzeczy jest wystawa fotografii. Zbiór konkretnych obrazów ułożonych w nadającą im określone znaczenie sekwencję. Za każdym ze zdjęć stoi konkretna historia która oczekuje na werbalizacje prowadząc odbiorcę przez narracje zbudowaną staraniem artysty. Schemat ułożenia fotografii determinuje drogę naszej interpretacji ograniczając doświadczenie całości do konkretnego sposobu czytania zdjęć – banalne „od lewej do prawej”. W głowie pojawia się tekst opowieści uzupełniony o połączenia wizualne zachodzące pomiędzy konkretnymi fotografiami. Widzimy, łączymy, interpretujemy i dopowiadamy przenosząc doświadczenie czysto wizualne na pojawiające się w głowie pojęciokształty.

Dawid Misiorny chcąc zbadać możliwości szukania połączeń i snucia interpretacji zaproponował stworzenie kilku sekwencji które co tydzień podlegać będą zmianie. Przesuwające się przez przestrzeń galerii obrazy ułożą 4 odmienne linie narracyjne. Manewr ten to zachęta do czytania fotografii jako zbioru obrazów które reagują na siebie wchodząc w wizualne i tekstualne interakcje. Złapane w ramy kadru sceny stają się faktorami opowieści, nabierają charakteru pojęć-bloków z których powstaje tytułowa konstrukcja.

Dawid Misiorny (ur. 1985 r., Poznań)
Absolwent Wydziału Kulturoznawstwa UAM w Poznaniu, student Intermediów na Wydziale Komunikacji Multimedialnej UAP. W 2012 r. został laureatem Miesiąca Fotografii w Krakowie. Jego prace były pokazywane na wielu wystawach zbiorowych (m.in. Paris Photo, 2011; Miesiąc Fotografii w Krakowie, 2012; Biennale Fotografii w Poznaniu, 2013, oraz Galerii Piekary w 2014 r). W latach 2012-2013 współpracował z Self Publish, Be Happy w Londynie. Publikował także w magazynach „Kwartalnik Fotografia”, „Punkt”, „PIG”, „Holy Ghost”, „Romka”, „Szum” i wielu innych. W 2013 pełnił funkcję jurora podczas Warsaw Photo Days, a od 2014 prowadzi magazyn poświęcony fotografii współczesnej, Magenta, którego jest redaktorem naczelnym.

Dawid Misiorny constructs an exhibition that refers to the process of interpretation of photography. In this case, Babel is a symbol of the mixture of languages, narratives,
and modes of reception. The selection of photographs prepared by the artist will be arranged into changing sequences evolving in the course of the exhibition. In the case of Misiorny, who in his art searches for poetic ‘decisive moments’, this gesture subverts the exceptionality of preserved images. The author opens them to the infinite possibilities of interpretation and infinite number of languages and histories with which the exhibition will be speaking.

Let us consider what an exhibition of photography actually is. It is a set of particular pictures arranged into a meaningful sequence. Behind each of them there is a particular story which awaits verbalisation by leading the
viewer through a narrative constructed by the artist. The arrangement of the pictures determines interpretation by limiting the viewers’ experience of the whole to one given mode of reading the photographs – the banal “from left to right”. The text of the story emerges in one’s head, completed with visual links between the photographs. The viewers see, link, interpret and complete them by transferring the purely visual experience into the image-notions that emerge in one’s head.Trying to examine the possibilities of searching for links and formulating interpretations,

Dawid Misiorny suggested creating several sequences that would be changed every week. Images, moving through the space of the gallery will form 4 different narrative lines.
This manoeuvre is an encouragement to read photographs as a set of images that react to one another by starting visual and textual interactions. Scenes caught in the frames
become factors of a story and they take the form of notion-blocks that form the titular structure.

Dawid Misiorny (b. 1985 in Poznań)
The graduate of the Faculty of Cultural Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, a student of Intermedia at the Faculty of Multimedia Communication at the Krakow
University of Pedagogy. In 2012 he was a laureate of Photomonth in Krakow. His work was shown at numerous group exhibitions (e.g. Paris Photo, 2011; Photomonth in
Krakow, 2012; Biennale of Photography in Poznań, 2013, as well as Piekary Gallery in 2014). In 2012-2013 he collaborated with Self Publish, Be Happy in London. His works were published in “Kwartalnik Fotografia”, “Punkt”, “PIG”, “Holy Ghost”, “Romka”, “Szum” and many others. In 2013 he was a juror at Warsaw Photo Days, and since 2014 he has been running Magenta, a magazine on contemporary photography, where he works as the editor-in-chief.
